Many different types of suits exist, and it is very important for men of all ages to be able to discern which styles are appropriate for which occasions. Most formal dress codes are fairly specific, yet there are many new trends, as well as trusted classic styles to choose from.

When looking for a tuxedos, you must first decide whether it is optimal to own or rent it. Rentals are usually easily available, however owning your own tuxedo and having it always on hand may pose a significant advantage.

First off, how often will you need a tuxedo? If you attend many formal events, it is probably more economical in the long run to own your own versus renting on a regular basis. One made of superior quality materials is probably very durable, but likewise, it probably costs a lot.

If you go to a nighttime event, choosing a midnight blue or black is always the best option, however, a gray suit is okay for daytime functions. Making sure your tuxedo is an appropriate fit is very important. It is best to ensure there are no visible holes on the garment as well.

Also, be sure that no holes are visible in the tux, whether renting or purchasing to own, and especially if you are purchasing a previously owned garment, such as from a vintage clothing store. Even then, you should examine your tux for visible stains, rips, or holes (such as moth holes) prior to any event. Leave yourself enough time to deal with any possible dry cleaning or repair work.

A bow tie that is already tied is just as acceptable as a bow tie that needs to be assembled, but that requires your knowledge of how to do this. . If you are relaxed about not wearing a tie, you can do so. A black tie always makes a great impression if you want to go that route.

Single-breasted suits tend to look best on tall men (six feet and up), while double-breasted suits are acceptable for any body type. The three basic styles for double-breasted suits are as follows: (1) double-breasted peak (the most traditional); (2) double-breasted shawl; and (3) double-breasted notch.

You may choose to wear either a vest or a cummerbund, but they should not both be worn at the same time. If you select a cummerbund, remember to put it on so the pleats upward. The more formal the event, the more subtle the color you should select for your accessories. Good Luck!
