My friend Sire invited me a week before the actual advance screening of astroboy. She told me that the special screening of astroboy will be for the bloggers and the sponsors. Although I am not a serious or full time blogger, I still counted my self in, it’s not always that I receive a free invites on movie shows.

We were an hour early. I had the chance to meet some bloggers.

Astro Boy is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist named Tenna (Nicolas Cage). Powered by positive “blue” energy, Astro Boy (Freddie Highmore) is endowed with super strenght, x-ray vision, unbelievable speed and the ability to fly.

Embarking on a journey in search of acceptance, Astro Boy encounters many other colorful characters along the way. Through his adventures, he learns the joys and emotions of being human, and gains the strength to embrace his destiny. Ultimately learning his friends and family are in danger, Astro Boy marshals his awesome super powers and returns to Metro City in a valiant effort to save everything he cares about and to understand what it takes to be a hero.

I’ve been planning to blog about this movie and other stuffs few days ago (if not weeks), but then i still cannot find time to do it. Been busy and preoccupied in my readings and review classes. Though I cannot say that i really don’t have a life anymore due to my studies, because i still find time to relax and unwind.

Seeing a movie once in a while is enough to relieve my self from those monotonous routine of mine. I prefer watching movies on Last full show (LFS), maybe because i allocate my daytime in my reviewing, and night time is the time to relax… isn’t it? heheheh… and another reason is that in LFS, i don’t fill the rush, the intense or being anxious of going home and read again, all I know is that, right after the movie, I’ll go home and rest my ass out and feel the warmth of my bed.

I am having hesitations in divulging this informations because i know that my brother always read my blog, and he will eventually find out that I go out and go home late night and been somewhere unfamiliar to him, and probably relay the same to my mom. I can already hear them say that “mag aral ka, hindi puro lakawatsa” hahahaha… excusez-moi! im studying everyday, from morning until midnight or past midnight (sometimes), give me time to relax, ok? i need it. Its a pamper to look forward to, after a week of dedication – a consolation for my self. here it goes… its been a habit now of watching movies in Eastwood Movie House, not because its a place where “sosyal” people go, but its the place where my friends wanted to watch. I can’t blame them, it is indeed comfortable watching there, not to mention that there are lots of stunning, striking, goodlooking, dazzling people there, hahaha…

When I watched the movie “The Curious case of Benjamin Button” starring Brad PItt, a two and a half grueling hour movie. I think it was almost 2am when i arrived home after that movie. Thats when I saw Sunshine Dizon and Ms. Angelica Panganiban who was so angelic and so pretty in person, though she was not that tall. The movie was great, however, i was bothered because i was controlling my self not to to go to comfort room. It was so cold and i forgot to bring my jacket, nature was calling me, hahahha…

then, last weekend, I had the chance to watch “Underworld: Rise of the Lycans” – this is not your Kate Beckinsale and Scott Speedman’s Underwolrd, though i thought that time it was their’s, that’s why i decided to watch it instead of Jim Carey’s “Yes Man” and the Chick Flick “Bride Wars” . It was entertaining, but it was not that good. If you already seen, the original underworld, you already know whats going to happen in the part 3. Not really your money’s worth. just go buy a DVD in quiapo, hahahhaa… Anyway, Actor Polo Ravales and other commercial model-turned actor was there too, but i dont know his name… hehehheh

(EDIT this some other time, im in a hurry.. hahahhah)

How long will you wait for love? – a question that has been running in our mind when we are caught up in a whirl wind of unparalleled love.

Shoot me in the Heart. I will be glad to know that I died because of love.

During my Christmas Vacation, and while i was studying in my bedroom, i’ve been downloading a couple of movies both old and new, in an anticipation of watching them everynight before i go to bed and taking my rest. Looking up in the series of movies released in 2003-2008, i was able to find at least ten (10) films to download. On of which is the movie Love in the Time of Cholera. I know ive heard this movie before and had an idea that this had been an adaptation of a famous novel which traddles the line between pop and art, and manages to be both a bestseller and a literary masterpiece.

Only Last night, that i had the chance to watch this movie, a two-hour movie. In the complex, magical and sensual city of Cartagena, Colombia, a man waits over fifty years for his one true love. As a young man in 19th-century Colombia, Florentino Ariza, a poet and telegraph clerk, discovers his life’s passion when he sees Fermina Daza through the window of her father’s villa. Through a series of passionate letters, Florentino gradually awakens the young beauty’s heart, but her father is furious when he learns of the affair, and vows to keep them apart forever. As the years go by, Fermina marries the sophisticated aristocrat Dr. Juvenal Urbino, who has brought order and medicine to Cartagena, stemming the waves of cholera that mysteriously besiege the city. He sweeps her away to Paris for years, and when they start their lives together back in Cartagena, she has all but forgotten her first love. But Florentino has not forgotten her. Now a wealthy ship-owner, Florentino beds hundreds of women as he tries to get over his undying passion.. His heart is patient, and he will wait a lifetime for the chance to be with her again.

the movie was ok. Is love a disease, as Marquez possibly wanted us to believe? Maybe, but in the case of this adaptation, it’s more of a laughing sickness. Sometimes you’re watching a bad movie, and you’re like, ‘Well, I’m still entertained,’ so I’m recommending it on that sort of level. The film is not boring, considering the simple, tried and true forbidden romance story.

Weirdly proposing sexual excess as the cure for unrequited love, the film has sad sack protag Florentino drowning his sorrows in an endless round of quickies with 623 faceless babes in heat. Well, in the veracity, most of the people do not, inevitably, do it to overwhelm thier sorrows, but instead they find enjoyment and satisfaction in hopping from one bed to another.

“I’d never given much thought to how I would die…. Surely it was a good way to die, in the place of someone else, someone I loved.” — Bella Swan, this was the first line in the movie,

“When life offers you a dream so far beyond any of your expectations, it’s not reasonable to grieve when it comes to an end.” — Bella Swan

I watched the Movie…. Nothing will be the same.

I haven’t read the Book yet. But rumor says that Twilight is the next best Novel Series right after Harry Potter.

I beg to disagree. Seeing the first of the four movie installment, i may say that Twilight series are more matured as compared to Harry Potter. We should not compare the two Novels for they are directed to different facet, different audience, different idea.

Anyway, back to Twilight. I watched it in Gateway Mall last monday, December 01, 2008.

It revolves around Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart, who falls in love with a vampire, Edward Cullen, played in the movie by Robert Pattinson. It’s a story of passion and restraint. Edward and his family are no ordinary vampires. Calling themselves vegetarians, they’ve sworn to spare humans and instead feed themselves with animal blood.

Right After the movie was shown, so many reviews emerged. There are many mixed reviews of Twilight, this are not due to viewers’ taste or age but rather it depends on whether or not you’ve read the book, and, interestingly, how many times you’ve seen the movie.

I dunno if it was a good thing that I haven’t read the book first before I watched the movie. The truth is, I really enjoyed the movie. I’ve heard among those who read the book first that While they were watching the movie, they didn’t feel the emotions that they felt when they read the book. While the lines were straight from the book, the descriptions and writings that made the book full of suspense were lost in the movie. I dunno about that, but instead I was fascinated, mesmerized.

It did have its benefit of having not read the book first, otherwise I’ll just get disappointed after watching the movie, and will fail to appreciate it. The first installment made me look forward for the next until the end.

The Book

Decades of practice have trained the Cullens to become almost immune to the smell of human blood. Edward himself is about a century old, although he is frozen at 17. They have been so used to their lifestyle that they decided to enroll themselves in high school and mingle with humans. The Cullens are nostalgic about their human lives.

But what happens when after almost a century of his vampire existence, when he thought nothing would surprise him anymore, Edward smells the sweetest human blood.

In the Twilight world, the smell of human blood varies. On rare occasions, a lucky vampire would chance upon a human whose smell would satisfy him the most, like a “personal brand of heroine.” To Edward, that was Bella.

It was difficult enough to stop himself from killing Bella the first time she smelled her blood. When Edward succeeded to control his appetite for her blood, he falls in love with her, an emotion he felt for the first time in a century. First love.

Twilight, the first in the four books of the Twilight series, is an easy book to read. It captivates readers with the eternal suspense on how—and if—Edward can control himself around Bella. One mistake could kill her or turn her into a vampire. Both are unacceptable to Edward. He intends to keep Bella alive, blushing cheeks and pulsating heart. As if it’s not a big challenge already to protect Bella from himself, Edward also has to protect her from the other vampires. She knows the danger but she doesn’t care.

Who in the first place provides for the money to buy the ticket and accompany their children? its the Adults! I think that’s one of the reason why the producers of most animated movies made the same appealing to the adults. In that way, not only the young ones will be eager to watch it, but also the young once!

Few nights ago, before I went to bed, i decided to watch Kung Fu Panda. While i was watching it, there are some lines from the movie that are worth quoting, and im glad to share it with you. We have different perceptions and interpretations about anything, so I’ll just leave to you on how you will digest it.

Master Oogway, an Old tortoise, made the following quotable quotes:

“One often meets his Destiny on the road he takes to avoid it”

“Your mind is like a water my friend, when its agitated… it becomes difficult to see. But if you allow to settle, the answer becomes clear”

“Quit. Don’t Quit. Noodles. Don’t Noodles. You are too concerned with what was and what will be .

Yesterday is history, Tomorrow is a Mistery, but Today is a Gift, that’s why it’s called” “PRESENT”"

“There’s just news. No Good or Bad.”

Conversation between the Tortoise and the Mouse

“The Panda will never fulfill his Destiny, nor you, yours; until you let go of the illusion of control.

Look at this tree, I cannot make it blossom nor make it bear fruit before its time”

“But there are things we can control. I can control when the fruit will fall, I can control where to plant the seed!”

“But No matter what you do, that seed will grow to be a peach tree. You may wish for an apple or an Orange, But you will get a Peach. Norture, Guide, Believe. You just need to believe.”

From Panda’s Father

“There’s no secret ingredient. You don’t add some kind of special sauce or something. To make something special, you just have to believe it’s Special”

That’s it. Its some of the quotable quotes that i was able to extract from the Movie Kung Fu Panda. I’ll just leave the interpretation to you.
